He rose to international fame as a member of the record label Kalawa Jazmee Records, where he produced major hits in genres such as Afrobeats, Amapiano, and House music. DJ Maphorisa gained global recognition after producing the hit song One Dance by Drake, which featured Wizkid and Kyla. The song became a worldwide success and topped charts in several countries.

He is also one half of the famous duo Scorpion Kings with Kabza De Small, playing a major role in popularizing Amapiano across Africa and internationally.
